Are They Good Enough for Student-Centered And Constructivist Class? Investigation into Teachers’ and Students’ Perception towards Mathematics Textbooks for Junior High Schools in Ghana

This study aims to investigate into the perception both students and teachers hold towards mathematics textbook in public Basic Schools Ghana explore whether textbooks are good enough help implement learner-centered constructivist approach teaching of mathematics. Specifically, it examines teachers' points view on problems current had contributed abysmal performance basic schools as stated TIMSS report data available from West African Examination Council Education certificate 2010-2014 or not helped deliver right kind instruction: student-centered learning classroom. A close examination literature also inform us existing math its negative impacts educational reform high schools. Previous studies use raise important questions about representations curriculum. One question concerns their role a link between curriculum activities classrooms. Some findings thesis showed that objectives textbook, formulated national curriculum, only partially realized. followed mixed method design gather quantitative qualitative through questionnaire interviews teachers. The number participants who took part this survey was 216 total suggested may have negatively thus our need be reexamined. More specifically, most don't trust concepts effectively. revealed that, manner which mathematical outlined student mathematics: does succeed promoting facilitating understanding, know contribution because basically first call point when comes implemented contact with. implication research is for actors education sector up doing putting contents allow interact with themselves world at large would translate economic growth future.
